All media talking about flooding. 20 years ago was situation bad as is now.

Despite the flood prevention wall, more than 1,200 families in 27 communities outside the flood walls along the Chao Phraya River, the Bangkok Noi Canal and the Maha Sawat Canal are still at risk. In addition, 15 other areas in the city, see the map above, could also experience bad flooding. (Please note, the map is from the Bangkok Post last October but is still relevant today.) The map below, by the Bangkok Post graphics department, shows the 75 km long flood prevention wall. It also shows the locations of the drainage tunnels.
 

UPDATE 8th October: As the tide rises in the capital city, the National Disaster Center at 3pm said in the latest warning that some areas could experience water overflows chiefly in nine areas – Khlong Bang Phrom, Khong Chimphlee (Buddhamondhol 1), Khlong Bang Waek (Ratchadapisek Road), Khlong Premprachakorn (Don Muang), Khlong Lat Phrao (Wat Lat Phrao), Pak Khlong Talad, Khlong Bang Sue (Phaholyothin Road), and Khlong Mahasawat (Buddhamondhol 2).

Eastern parts of Bangkok likely to be flooded .

The rest of the country is a more complicated story. Problems are mostly in north and central Thailand.

Authorities are expected huge amounts of water to reach Ubon Ratchathani Province next month.

Floodwaters rise in north, northeast; Bangkok on alert.

7-day Forecast

During 5-7 Sep, the monsoon trough will lies across the North and the Northeastern Thailand and the southwest monsoon prevailed over the Andaman, the South and the Gulf of Thailand are intensifying. Increasing in rainfall and isolated heavy rains are likely over upper Thailand.

During 8-11 Sep, the monsoon trough shift down to across the lower North, the Central, the East and the lower Northeast and the southwest monsoon over the Andaman, the South and the Gulf of Thailand are strong. Abundant rain is expected over Thailand and isolated heavy rain in the North, the Northeast, the Central, the East and the South west coast. Wind-wave in the Andaman Sea and the upper Gulf of Thailand will strengthen with 2 meters high during the period.

Warning   During 9- 11 Sep, people in the risky areas in the North, the Northeast, the Central, the East and the South west coast should beware of flooding condition and the riverside beware of flooding. All ships should proceed with caution.

NOCK-TEN hurricane caused 20 deaths.

According to recent reports NOCK-TEN hurricane caused 20 deaths. Particularly rife in northeast Thailand.
Affected provinces were จังหวัด น่าน NangLoei, จังหวัด หนองคาย NongKhai, จังหวัด ประจวบคีรีขันธ์ PrachuapKhiraKhan.

16 provinces, which are continuing heavy rains:
จังหวัด แพร่ Phrae
จังหวัด เชียงใหม่ Chiang Mai.
จังหวัด สุโขทัย Sukhothai.
จังหวัด ลำพูน Lamphun.
จังหวัด ลำปาง Lampang.
จังหวัด แม่ฮ่องสอน Mae Hong Son province.
จังหวัด อุตรดิตถ์ Uttaradit.
จังหวัด พิจิตร Phichit.
จังหวัด พิษณุโลก Phitsanulok.
จังหวัด ตาก So.
จังหวัด นครสวรรค์ Office.
จังหวัด นครพนม Nakhon Phanom province.
จังหวัด อุดรธานี Province.
จังหวัด บึงกาฬ Kan province.
จังหวัด สกลนคร Sakon Nakhon province.

Weather Forecast Bureau, Meteorological Department warned residents and further highlights the need to be prepared for floods during the months of August, spetember and October.
